How To Get Clear Skin Without Skin Care Products?

Most precious things are usually found in abundance on earth. Water, salt, air and information can be found almost everywhere at a minimal cost. However, as humans, we have a tendency to associate cost with value. If it comes cheaper, at no cost or with no energy, it’s simply not valuable. It’s not just about the salt, water or the air, it applies to almost anything that we see around us.

Same is applied to the tips and advices shared over the internet claiming to help you get clear skin without skincare products. Tips like drinking enough water, getting enough sleep, exercising daily and eating healthy etc. may seem cliché and can be found easily, but its easy access does not mean that these tips and solutions are not effective or simply won’t work because it’s everywhere, instead, these tips are really good, supported by science and actually work, if not taken for granted. There’s just one reason why these solutions might fail to work and that is our impatience and inconsistency.

Well… it’s not completely your fault. Wherever you read or took these conventional advices from, either they did not help you understood the science behind how these tips work, or you simply did not care enough to understand the rationale behind them.

Furthermore, the tips I’m going to share below are not very different from what you have known or been told to follow except, I’ve shortlisted only the ones which genuinely work, says science. I’ll give you a solid reason behind why each tip matters and more importantly, in simplest words possible, I’ll help you understand how each tip will help you get a clearer skin.

Beauty Sleep is the state where our body goes into repair mode and starts to regenerate skin cells, support collagen production, leading to a firmer and more elastic skin. So, focus on getting quality sleep or as they say, Beauty Sleep.

Try going to bed and waking up at a specific time every day, and do it for at least 2-3 weeks, weekends included. It can fix your routine and believe me; it’ll be worth it at the end.

Not only good sleep makes you feel fresh in the morning but also strengthen your immune system which can ultimately help you fight off many diseases including heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, obesity, and depression etc.

Our body contains about 60% water on an average. Yes, I know that you knew this already and it’s widely available, but guess what, most of us take it for granted. If a woman drinks 2200 ml water, and a man is able to drink 3000 ml daily, they can have an elastic and supple skin while reducing the likelihood of breakouts and dullness.

It’s not just the elasticity and suppleness that water provides to your skin but also helps in proper functioning of your kidney and brain along with many skin disorders such as dryness, wrinkles and fine lines etc.

Make it habit of drinking water. Difficulty in finding water outside home? Carry a bottle along. Too busy working or it slips your mind? Set a reminder. The point is, get over your excuses and drink up! Believe me, it pays off.

I’m not asking you not to take stress because, you are not stupid. You would have stopped stressing if you could, but unfortunately, you don’t have much control over this however, you surely can lower its intensity by working out, playing with kids/pets and spending time with your loved ones.

The point is, stress causes your body to release cortisol, also known as stress hormone, which further may lead to overproduction of sebum (an oily substance) and therefore, acne.

So, stop thinking about trying to manage stress and get more stressed about your inability to manage stress. Instead, simply pick and perform one of the activities suggested above and live in that moment while you are at it. Learn about this Stress Loop in more detail.

Throughout your day, your skin comes in contact with dust, debris and pollutants etc. and that get settled onto your skin, if not washed off timely or left there for a long time. So, to avoid this from happening, do not forget to exfoliate your skin right before bed.

You can make an exfoliator at home by mixing lemon, sugar and honey.

Don’t know how you make one at home? Let me help you.

  • Step 1. Take a lemon, 2 tablespoon sugar (preferably fine-grained) and 1 tablespoon honey.
  • Step 2. Dissolve lemon juice in honey and then add sugar gradually to lemon-honey mixture. Stir continuously until you achieve a paste-like consistency.
  • Step 3. Massage this homemade exfoliator onto your skin for about 2-3 minutes and rinse your face with lukewarm water.

During work out, our body releases endorphins that act as natural stress reliever while limiting the release of cortisol and therefore, preventing acne.

It also boosts blood circulation, helping deliver the nutrition and oxygen to our skin cells more effectively, ultimately leading to a healthier skin.

If not every day, at least workout 3-4 times a week. Go to the gym, go for a walk or workout at your home using bodyweight. Read about HITT (High Intensity Interval Training) workout which can be done at home with little to not equipment or machines.

Amongst 1000s of tips out there, pick a combo, benefits of which are supported by science and stick to them for a while. It may take some time, but you’ll see the results. You can not expect any of these tips to magically give you a clear skin. Fixing things at root level takes time so, you’ll have to be patient and consistent about it. If you decide to go with the tips provided about, I’d love to know the effectiveness. Do share your journey with xGloe by connecting through our contact page.
